WTSC Foundation Walk raises £6K for Mental Health Awareness Campaign

30/09/2017

The Wine Trade Sports Club Foundation charity walk took place on Saturday 9th September 2017 in memory of a great friend, colleague and sports club member, Ben Campbell-Johnston, who tragically died in October 2016, raising £5754.25 to date.

Over 40 members of the Wine Trade along with family and four-legged friends met at Hattingley Valley Wines on Saturday 9th September and enjoyed a 9 mile walk through the stunning Hampshire countryside. The weather was relatively kind to us with a couple of short, sharp showers en route and an almighty storm on our return to Hattingley Valley where we were greeted with shelter and a delicious hog roast.

An enormous thank you to all who joined us on the day and to those who have donated. The money will be donated to raise essential funds for The Benevolent to support the launch of their nationwide Mental Health Awareness campaign within the drinks industry. The campaign’s primary goal will be to raise awareness about mental health, encouraging members of the trade that suffer to discuss it without stigma. It will also provide the necessary process to apply for support if needed #NotAlone. At the same time 20% of all funds raised will be donated directly to Mind, who provide essential support for those suffering from mental health issues.

If you still wish to donate, please visit the fundraising page.

Several updates and photos from the walk can be found on Facebook, Twitter @WTSC_UK and Instagram @winetradesportsclub

Many thanks for your support and a special thanks to Hattingley Valley Wines for kindly giving us use of their facilities for the day.
